Ep. 141. 2 Kings 9-10 | Jehu

EPISODE 141

JEHU: 2 KINGS 9-10

Jehu is significant in that he brings the line of Ahab to an end to fulfill what had been spoken through Elijah, the prophet. Jehu is the third individual God had told Elijah to anoint (Elisha was the first, and Hazael was the second). However, we again see that it was not Elijah but Elisha who anointed Jehu as king.

Jehu was moderately or at least momentarily faithful to God, but his line would be removed from kingship after four generations.

The absolute boss move of Jehu is when he feigned worship to Baal to eradicate all of the Baal worshippers in Israel. Sadly, the people would return to the worship of false gods and idols in just a few decades.
