Ep. 122. Psalm 146,147 | Sing to the Lord
EPISODE 122
SING TO THE LORD: PSALM 146,147
There is no one like the Lord. He is the creator. He is the source of life. There is salvation in no one else. He sets free those who are captive to sin. He opens blind eyes. He raises up the humble. He loves those he has declared righteous. He reigns forever and ever.
It is not only good to sing praises to him, but it is pleasant and fitting. I imagine we often think we ought to sing praises to him, but surely we must also find that it fits the nature of God to sing praises to him. And certainly, we must find it pleasing to sing praises to him. If we don't, then something is amiss in our hearts, for "Great is our Lord and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond all measure."
God takes no pleasure in the supposed strength of mankind. After all, he knows we are little more than dust and breath. He does delight, however, in those who place all their confidence in his steadfast love and those who rightly fear him.
Every problem we face in our faith likely stems from a misunderstanding of God's person and work. If we were to think about God correctly, we would be an unstoppable force of faith demonstrated in holy living. Oh, that we would better understand the depths of God's love for us and his indescribably great power at work within us!
