AHAB IS NOT COOL: 1 KINGS 21-22

Ahab was a wicked and cruel man, and his wife, Jezebel, was even worse. Naboth's land was stolen from him by the work of an unrighteous woman. But of course, Elijah is there to pronounce judgment against the evil couple. Jehu (a future king) was present with King Ahab when Elijah proclaimed his rebuke, but we don't see that here. It will be mentioned during the days of Jehu, King of Israel. 

As to the narrative of chapter 22, the lying spirit causes discomfort for some people, but we discussed this in some detail when we covered the harmful spirit sent to King Saul by God. I suggest you revisit our notes from Episode 77. We rest comfortably knowing that God does everything well and is trustworthy. If God used a lying spirit to bring about the downfall of an unrighteous king, we can not find fault with God.
