Ep. 125. Proverbs 10-31 | Things to Consider
EPISODE 125
THINGS TO CONSIDER: PROVERBS 10-31
I always think of the rest of Proverbs like fortune cookies or bumper stickers. Short little quips full of wisdom. The reality is that there is a lot of practical wisdom in these chapters of Proverbs and that the chapters are sweeping statements to be taken as a whole. Reading through the chapters and focusing on the different characters each time would be worth your time. Consider what it teaches about the character of the wise person (diligent). What are the follies of the fool/sluggard? Use these chapters as a self-examination. I can't read through Proverbs without seeing the benefit of being silent. (Only the fool gives vent to everything in his heart/mind) The wise person knows when to hold his tongue. I like the ease of reading through Proverbs and dislike the butt-kicking I receive every time through it. You could read through this book in about an hour and a half, but if you break it up into its two divisions, you could read the first section in about half an hour and the second section in an hour. Take three days to get through the Proverbs, and think of it as a whole commentary on individual character rather than hundreds of random thoughts.
