Ep. 169. Isaiah 54-55 | Come to Me
EPISODE 169
COME TO ME: ISAIAH 54-55
Isaiah knocks it out of the park again with the very quotable chapter 55. There is satisfaction and provision in Christ. Come and get your fill without money and without price. The riches of grace are free. I really don't think we contemplate that often enough. We know it to be true, and I am sure we'd share the gospel by talking about how the individual need not do anything but believe. We know it is the work of Christ on the cross and not our work that imparts to us righteousness. Still, I wonder if we don't, deep down inside some secret place we don't like to discuss, feel like there is something we owe for this grace we have received from the overflow of God's good mercy. Everything we could procure, everything we could work for, everything we might consume in the name of satisfaction will leave us destitute. However, in Christ, we finally receive what is good and rich.
And though I've already mentioned it in the video, don't forget that, by the Spirit at work in you, it is now possible to know God's thoughts and ways. Only the wicked and unrighteous find their thoughts and ways counter to those of Jesus. But "wicked" and "unrighteous" are not the nametags we wear as believers, for we are now "saints," "holy ones," and "children of God."
Furthermore, we can always, and I do mean ALWAYS, trust that what God has declared will come to pass. As surely as the rain causes the seed to sprout. Let us come to know those things God has already declared in the Scripture so we might walk this day and the next with more confidence (not in ourselves but in him). And, of course, that is, in part, what we are trying to do here with Simpler Bible.
