Ep. 197. Daniel 4-6 | Lions' Den
EPISODE 197
LION'S DEN: DANIEL 4-6
We are not told where in the timeline chapter four fits into the story, but we are able to discern how chapters five and six come together at the end of the seventy years of captivity when Babylon is brought to an end by the Persian empire. Daniel would have been quite old when he was thrown into the lion's den. Of course, we see God deliver Daniel just as he also delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. God was not obligated to save, but we see how God used each instance to make his name known throughout the world's empires. First, through the Babylonian empire with Daniel's three friends, and here, through the Persian and Mede Empires by delivering Daniel from the mouths of the lions.
I do find it both remarkable and inspiring that the enemies of Daniel said "We shall not find any ground for complaint against this Daniel unless we find it in connection with the law of his God." In other words, Daniel was such an upright man of integrity that no wickedness could be found in him and subsequently used against him. I would love to live in such a way that the only thing people could hate about me is my affection for my God and King.
