Ep. 191. Ezekiel 10-11 | The Glory Departs

EPISODE 191

THE GLORY DEPARTS: EZEKIEL 10-11

These two chapters mark the culmination of Ezekiel's vision of God's judgment for Jerusalem and his departure from the city. We are presented with the promise of a new heart and spirit for the rebels of Judah. They will once again be God's people, and they will once again worship him. However, this promise is yet to be fully realized. We often interpret a promise like this as being fulfilled by the people returning to Jerusalem at the end of the seventy-year captivity, but the true fulfillment of this promise of a new heart and new spirit is reserved for the last days. The prophets consistently proclaim judgment on the rebellious people of Israel and Judah, while also promising restoration and healing for the nation. Amidst these blessings, we find the Branch of Righteousness, who will ultimately lead the people in power and glory. We understand this to refer to Christ and the time he will come to make all things new, and we are eagerly awaiting the fulfillment of these days.
