Ep. 201. Nahum | The Lord is Good

EPISODE 201

THE LORD IS GOOD: NAHUM

Hold it in your head that this is a prophecy against Nineveh. It is helpful for us to ask fundamental questions when we read any book of the Bible. Who is the author?

Who is the audience?

What is the intent?

These words sound very similar to those spoken by other prophets to Israel and Judah, and it would be easy for us to skip over the first verse and read this as a rebuke to God's rebellious people.

We are reminded that God is slow to anger and great in power. It is another nod to the name by which God introduced himself to Moses in Exodus 34.

Remember also that Nineveh is the capital city of Assyria and historically has been the enemy of God and his people.
